Whenever we listen to the word “Junk food”, immediately the word “Unhealthy” came to our mind. But, now this is will not happen anymore. Junks foods are always considered unhealthy because it is made of full-sugar, low-quality products, over-processed snacks, artificial colour, and flavours. That is the reason that when people want to lose weight or decided to start eating only healthy food the very first thing they skip is their junk food. But it is not easy to skip junk food.

But this is not true that all junk foods are unhealthy. There are many junk foods that are healthier than we thought. But either it is healthy, junk foods always be consumed in moderation.

Whenever you carve for chocolate, go for dark chocolate. It is considered healthier than milk chocolate because it got less sugar more fiber, iron, and mineral. It also contains different antioxidants i.e. polyphenols, catechins, and flavanols. Hence we can call dark chocolate a healthy junk food.

     2.      Popsicle:

When you crave cold and sweet then you have the option of fruit popsicles. There are many brands of popsicles which are high sugar content. But try to find the fruit popsicles which has sugar but fat because fruit popsicles are just a blend of water and fruit. You can also make fruit popsicles at home as it is super easy to make.

     3.      Frozen Yogurt:

Frozen yogurt has fewer fats than ice cream, though both have added sugar and flavours. Frozen yogurt is considered a healthy junk food because it contains probiotics that help our body in digestion and make the immune system stronger.

     4.      Popcorn:

Popcorn is healthy junk food that you can make easily at home at any time to enjoy movie night. Just buy a bulk of corn kernel and pop it yourself on the stove. You can control the amount of oil in this recipe to keep it healthy. Microwave popcorns are not as healthier as they contain some chemicals.  Popcorns contain antioxidants i.e. polyphenols which control blood circulation and minimize the risk of certain cancers.

If you have to choose between sweet potato french fries and white potato french fries then go for the sweet potato. In both options amount of carbs and calories is the same, the only thing that makes sweet potato fries healthier is the high amount of fiber and vitamin A in it.

Cheese is one of those healthy junk food that will be healthy only if consumed in a moderate amount. Although all junk foods should be consumed in limited amounts. When taken in a moderate amount, cheese helps to lower the blood pressure due to the presence of calcium in it. To add more vitamins, pair cheese with fruits or nuts.

     7.      Nacho and Salsa:

Nacho and salsa also considered junk food due to a large amount of melted cheese in salsa. Salsa is a dip. It is a healthier dip than the other creamy. It is a healthy junk food due to the high nutritious value of salsa’s vegetables and tomatoes. Tomatoes are rich in anti-oxidants i.e. lycopene. Moreover, nachos are simple corn tortillas.

Hamburger is the most common healthy junk food. The burger patty is a high source of protein, iron, phosphorous, and several other nutrients. The unhealthy part of hamburgers is the bun, but if you choose a grain bun, it may provide a healthy fiber source.

Pretzels are made from wheat flour so you can consider it a healthy junk food. Wheat flour is a rich source of iron, vitamin-B, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. All these vitamins help our body to convert food into sugar that is used for energy.

Zucchini bread is a great source of vitamin C, B-6, potassium, phytonutrients, and other minerals that are important for supporting your immune system during and after cancer treatment.
